Reg Reid - PIANO

In 1958 after three years of army service in the band of the Manchester Regiment, Reg was demobbed and secured a place at the Royal Manchester College of Music with a view to improve his playing. After two years, due to the pressure of this college commitment and part time dance band playing he decided to become a full time professional musician.

Around 1966 Reg arrived in the Midlands working as a trombone player for the BBC. This later led to a teaching position at the Birmingham School of Music Later known as the Birmingham Conservatoire. It was during this period that he became Head of the Brass Department.

The BBC later made decision not to use brass instruments in their orchestra's. Reg then transferred to Central TV as Orchestral Contractor until they moved their studios to Nottingham.

In early 2002 he retired from teaching, and he put his trombone away in 2010. Since then Reg has become a valued member of the Martinique Jazz Band where his talent for playing piano fits nicely into the bands style.
